Go vs Ruby. Rails vs Everything Else!

Details

So we just skipped a month. But warn your family, friends and side projects that history will not be repeating itself just yet - as you will definitely be at the Ruby Ireland meetup on Tuesday 15th of May! We'll be back at Zendesk with two great talks that have something everyone - the Go language and Rails alternatives.

### Beyond Rails by PJ Hegarty (@aspleenic) ###
Rails has been repeatedly challenged as web framework for Ruby. One of the first serious assaults was from Merb, with hostilities eventually giving way to a merger with Rails itself. But others have remained distinct. In this talk, PJ will give a whirlwind tour of a bunch of different frameworks, Sinatra, Volt, Cuba, Hanami - along with their positive and negative features. So whether you want something leaner, meaner or greener - there should be a framework to suit your tastes.

### Pick up (&) Go by Viktor Vad (@vadviktor) ###
Go has been a divisive language. It has its lovers - that it brings simplicity, clarity and consistency to your development stack. It has its detractors that say its ways are not for them. In this talk, Viktor will give you (almost) everything you need to know to make up your mind. He compares coding in a dynamic language to coding in Go and dives into some advanced language features.

If you want to take part with a talk of your own in future, even a short one, please submit it here (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSewR0q9zrIrGUh8GTzPQj1iiUF1U1AOq4P07hWxvtYbG6esqg/viewform?c=0&w=1).

Note: Doors at Zendesk open at 6:30pm.

Thanks again to Zendesk for generously hosting us and to Edgescan for sponsoring the pizza!

Minimum age limit to attend is 18 years.
