From Feature Flops to User Joy
Details
We're nearly at the halfway mark for the year and for this meetup ChangeX is kindly hosting us at Dogpatch Labs. ChangeX (https://www.changex.org/) is a marketplace connecting proven ideas for strengthening communities with teams who start them locally and those with the resources to support. In a pair of talks they will share their approach to building the right features as well as their fascinating backstory. There will be a roundtable session to conclude the evening for everyone to contribute.
### Building a Social Change Machine by Paul O’Hara (@pohara ) ###
Paul will share the story of ChangeX so far, from near death experiences to valuable breakthroughs, the challenges of building and leading a product team as a non technical founder to cracking a business model as a non-profit and the teams ambition to build a powerful, global social change engine.
### From Feature Flops to User Joy by Niall O’Hara (@nialloh23) ###
Niall is an engineer turned product lead at ChangeX. One of the hardest parts of building useful products, is deciding what to build. Niall will share experiences of building features that nobody used and how ChangeX made the painful transition to discover and focus on real value and outstanding user experiences.
### Roundtable: Exploring New Technologies Applied to Social Change ###
The ChangeX product team will facilitate short roundtables on how new technologies can be applied to social change, and more specifically, to the spread of good ideas. How can machine learning be used to: map social problems in local communities; discover the most popular grassroots ideas and/or approve funding grant applications in seconds? How can social innovators value, sell and track units of impact using blockchain? How can ChangeX use open API’s to benefit from the knowledge and skill of open source communities?
Note: Doors at Dogpatch Labs open at 6:30pm. Talks start at 7pm.
Reminder: We will be in the Urban Garden upstairs at Dogpatch Labs.
ChangeX will kindly be hosting and sponsoring pizza and beers!
Minimum age limit to attend is 18 years.
