Ruby On Skis? Let's Go Alpine & Get Better Service!

Details
Well, it is the customary delayed start to the year for Ruby Ireland but the summer sun brings out the best in us and we say a big thanks to Clio who will host us for our June event! With summer in mind, what's all this talk of skiing? Well, we'll be learning about Alpine JS (and HTMX) from long time Ruby Irelander Viktor Vad and why it might help ease your front end anxieties. And Thilo Rusche, another Ruby Ireland stalwart, will make the case for why service objects in Rails shouldn't get a bad rap and how to use them to your advantage.
### "Busting Front-End Fears: Embracing Simplicity in Coding" by Viktor Vad
Join us as we demystify the modern front-end landscape with HTMX and Alpine.js, two powerful tools that streamline complex coding challenges. Discover how to write less code while achieving more, and transform your fear of front-end development into a passion for crafting simple, elegant solutions.
### "In Defense Of Service Objects in Rails" by Thilo Rusche
Convention over configuration is what we all love about Rails. But how should we organize our business logic - the secret sauce that makes our Rails app unique and un-conventional? In this talk, Thilo will walk you through real-world examples of how Sportskey accomplishes this with the help of service objects. No gems required.
We are very grateful to Clio for hosting and sponsoring this meetup, including food and beverages.
Note: Doors at Clio open at 6:00pm, pizza at 6:20pm and talks start at 7pm. Also, given it will be our first meetup in a while, there will be plenty of time after the talks to stay around and socialise with your fellow Rubyists until about 9pm. Aprés event, we might go to Fallon's bar - if you don't need to run for the early train or bus!
