Kickoff RubyABQ Event at Tractor Brewing - Wells Park

Hey Everyone!

To prevent this Meetup from becoming deleted I signed up to be the Organizer. I am currently a Web Developer here in Albuquerque working for Edgewater Federal Solutions. One of my main priorities moving forward will be growing this Meetup and the use of Ruby on Rails in Albuquerque. I feel like Ruby on Rails is very often glanced over in favor of other web frameworks and that in 2021 it's not getting the attention it deserves, especially with the advent of Rails 6 and Hotwire!

We'll be hosting a Meetup at Tractor Brewing - Wells Park on Wednesday, August 25th from 5:30 to 7:00 to kick things off! Tractor Brewing will let us host this meetup every month from here on out so be on the lookout for many more upcoming RubyABQ Events.

To attract some people that may not know Ruby and Ruby on Rails, I want to operate off of the assumption that many attending may not know anything at all about Ruby, but may have some previous basic programming experience. Because of this, I will make the first meetup presentation a primer on the Ruby language so that attendees can leave with some confidence to start building basic programs in Ruby.

The next Meetup after this will probably pertain to a basic rundown on Rails, and moving forward there will be presentations regarding further insight into the Rails Framework.
