Rumi Forum was founded in 1999 with the mission to foster interfaith and intercultural dialogue.
The Forum aims to stimulate thinking and exchange of opinions on supporting and fostering a culture of democracy,freedom of thought, human rights and peace and tranquility for all human beings. The forum provides a common platform for interactions, relationships, education and information exchange. In particular the forum has an interest in issues regarding pluralism, peace making , intercultural and interfaith dialogue, social justice and harmony .
Commensurate with its mission, the Forum takes its name from the 13th century Sufi scholar, philosopher, and poet Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi, whose reach embraced all humanity as personified by his message:
Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving. It doesn’t matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair. come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times. Come, yet again , come , come.
Our activities that contribute to the above aims consists of speakers series, conferences, panel discussions, private roundtable discussions, partnered projects, Rumi fellowships and publications, International study tours, International essay competition, Rumi Peace and Dialogue Awards, Ramadan Iftar dinners and Cultural events.
