About us

⚪️🔵⚪️ Russian Refugee Foundation – We are a registered nonprofit based in New York City that brings together people who stand for human rights, freedom, and solidarity. Our focus is on supporting Russian‑speaking individuals and families whose lives have been affected because of their civic stance, political views, or opposition to war, and who are trying to rebuild their lives in a new environment.

What we do:
🤝 Social and practical support
We help people and their children navigate daily life in New York, including access to basic services, community resources, and emotional support during a difficult transition.

🇺🇦 Solidarity with Ukraine
We organize and join humanitarian initiatives, rallies, and events in support of those affected by the war in Ukraine.

📦 Emergency and legal assistance
As a registered charity, we coordinate fundraising to provide direct help in crisis situations. This can include support with rent and housing, utility bills, medical expenses, basic needs, and contributions toward legal costs such as attorney fees and document preparation.

⚖️ Information and rights
We help people understand their rights and how to access healthcare, legal support, and other programs available in New York—without pushing any particular immigration path.

✉️ Support for political prisoners
We host regular gatherings to write letters and postcards to political prisoners, offering moral support to people who are persecuted for their beliefs.

🏘️ Community and connection in NYC
We create a safe, welcoming space where people can meet, share experiences, support each other, and build networks based on shared values.

Who should join:
We welcome everyone who believes in human rights, opposes political repression and war, and wants to support people through direct, practical action. If you share these values, you are very welcome in our community.

❤️ Every action matters. Join us, meet like‑minded people, and help change someone’s life.
