ring bells! 12/12 is the Bell Day.
Details
In remembrance of the Thing Bell of Novgorod, the Sunken City of Kitezh and the forgotten Constitution of a country far, far away, every December 12th we celebrate the Bell Day.
On the Bell Day, everyone is a lawmaker - because, essentially, everyone is a lawmaker for him- or herself. All it takes is to ring a bell and to make a Resolution that would become your law for one year and one day.
You can announce it or keep it secret. You can do it standing on a soap box, or on a high bridge, or sitting in a chair at a warm tea party, or in your imagination just for yourself. No one would praise you if you keep it or blame you if you break it. As free will is indivisible, it is impossible to participate in the Bell Day; but if you decide to join us, we would be happy to serve the tea / coffee / cookies, and we typically have three or four bells of different kinds to share for the ceremony (if you come without yours) and a box of smaller ones to give away.
This is an all-language event. After all, in the worst case, we can use gestures to communicate.
Let me know if you drink decaf.
If you can't come, but would like to share your Resolution, you can post it here in the comments or announce it at one of our later events.
Have a loud Bell!
