📚 Book Discussion Club: A. Chekhov “The Chameleon” / А. Чехов «Хамелеон»
Let’s read and chat about a short story in both Russian and English!
This is our second meetup in a series dedicated to Anton Chekhov’s sharp, funny, and insightful short stories.
About the story:
“The Chameleon” («Хамелеон») is a short and witty tale written in 1884. It follows a policeman trying to settle a dispute over a bitten finger—but his opinion keeps shifting depending on who owns the dog! It’s a great piece for learning new vocabulary and reflecting on social dynamics—Chekhov-style.
What we’ll do:
🗣 Read and compare parts of the story in Russian and English
💬 Discuss the meaning and themes
🔍 Explore interesting words and expressions
😊 Practice your Russian in a relaxed, friendly setting
✅ Language level: A2+ (but all are welcome—beginners, native speakers, and everyone in between!)
Before the event you can:
📖 Read the bilingual version and listen to audiobook (Russian version)
Join us for an evening of reading, conversation, and fun!
