"Leadership: Overcoming Resistance to Change" by guest speaker Sean Horrigan

Details
“Overcoming Resistance to Change” Helping people to change and become more successful in their lives is at the heart of effective leadership. This requires not only understanding how change occurs but also how change is resisted. Overcoming resistance to change can be puzzling for managers, consultants, and mentors working to help individuals and organizations unlock their potential. Despite possessing the skills and knowledge and even holding a very sincere commitment to a particular change, we are often unable to create sustained momentum in the direction of a desired change. In this interactive and practice-based session, participants will utilize a blueprint for identifying the origin of resistance and designing strategic interventions aimed at sustainable change.
The guest speaker, Sean Horrigan, teaches in the Organizational Leadership program in the School of Business at National University and is completing his PhD in Leadership Studies at the University of San Diego. His research is in the area of adult development and how a leader’s internal system of making meaning can develop to hold greater levels of uncertainty and complexity. He is motivated by his work with students that help them to unleash their adaptive capacities and focus their aspirations so that they can make choices aligned with their deepest sense of purpose.
