Please do not show up for an event unexpected or unprepared. Do not rely on others to have extra items to share with you at the meeting spot or on the trail. You should know how to use all of your equipment - test and adjust it prior to this trip.

This is a group event and participants are expected to follow the lead, stay together, stop at junctions or summits, and support all participants should circumstances require teamwork.

Be prepared to respond to an emergency situation. Bring your own gear including maps and compass and know how to use them. Be prepared to spend a night in the woods if you have to. If you underestimate the demands of this event; overestimate your experience, knowledge, skills or abilities; or come unprepared you put yourself and/or others at risk so consider this before you decide to participate.

Disclaimer: As a condition of your voluntary participation in this activity you acknowledge and agree to the following: this activity involves inherent risks that can cause property damage, injury, illness, disability, and/or death to participants and/or others; you assume all risk associated with this activity; you are responsible for having the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities, clothing, and equipment to safely participate in this activity; you know and will follow the Hiker Responsibility Code (http://www.hikesafe.com/) described at www.hikesafe.com (http://www.hikesafe.com/); the leader(s) of this activity are volunteers; and you release, hold harmless, and indemnify the leader(s) and all members of this group from any and all claims for property damage, injury, illness, disability, and/or death - including those caused by negligence and/or other reasons.

MY DISCLAIMER: MY ROLE AS ORGANIZER IN THIS HIKE IS SOCIAL. I AM NOT TRAINED TO BE A GUIDE, NOR AM I AN EXPERT IN HIKING SAFETY. WHILE I TRY TO HEAD OFF SOME OF THE PROBLEMS I HAVE SEEN IN THE PAST (AS I EXPECT EVERYONE WILL DO), MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT YOU WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY. IF MY DISAPPEARANCE DURING THIS TRIP WOULD PLACE YOUR SAFETY AT RISK OR IN ANY OTHER WAY CAUSE YOU MORE THAN ANNOYANCE AND INCONVENIENCE, THIS IS NOT THE TRIP FOR YOU AND I WOULD RECOMMEND HIKING WITH THE AMC OR SOME OTHER GROUP THAT PROVIDES A MORE STRUCTURED EXPERIENCE.

THERE IS ALWAYS SOME RISK OF INJURY IN HIKING. ULTIMATELY IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BE SURE THAT YOU CAN COMPLETE THE HIKE SAFELY BEFORE JOINING THE HIKE. FURTHERMORE, I AM TRUSTING YOU TO BE AWARE, AT ALL TIMES, WHETHER OR NOT YOU CAN SAFELY CROSS THE TERRAIN AHEAD.
