In this format, we encourage you to bring your laptop. We will have a beginner friendly workshop, thanks to Timo Kösters.
Rust is a language empowering everyone to build reliable and efficient software and we want to let off this energy in the Ruhr area.
We’re open to beginners and skilled developers alike and want to shape a regional community that supports each other in working with, and learning, Rust. Whether you’re into systems programming, embedded applications, or web development, Rust’s multi-paradigm nature has something for everyone.

Workshop (beginner friendly) - Client/Server Application with Axum:
In this workshop, Timo Kösters gives a short introduction to Rust and builds a server/client application in around 2h with you. You’ll learn how to get started with Rust and, on top, get to know popular crates in the Rust ecosystem like serde, reqwest and axum. So bring your laptop.
Speaker/Instructor Bio:
Timo Kösters is a software engineer at Phoenix R&D, where he participates in the More Instant Messaging Interoperability working group for the IETF and develops applications in Rust. As a Computer Science Master's student at the Technical University of Dortmund, he is passionate about exploring research topics and their practical applications. In his free time, he enjoys experimenting with computer graphics and machine learning. He is excited to share his experiences and learn from others in the Rust community.
