Rust Meetup Linz - 16th Edition

Details
Welcome to the 16th edition of the RUST MEETUP LINZ! This month, we dive deeper into a topic that we already had a few months ago: Rust with WASM in the cloud.
Our guest speaker, THORSTEN HANS, is a real pro when it comes to Kubernetes in the cloud β . He will take us on a journey into Microsoft's Azure cloud and demonstrate how to use Rust π¦ and Krustlet to replace containers with WASM in K8s.
Before Thorsten, RAINER STROPEK will do a short lightning talk about Advent of Code ππ . Are you currently learning Rust and looking for a way to practice? AoC is a great opportunity and a lot of fun.
And we have something special for you this time: Our sponsor MICROSOFT π enables us to offer you 10β¬ LIEFERANDO FOOD VOUCHERS ππ so you can enjoy our meetup not having to care for dinner. We will send out a form at the beginning of the meetup where you can apply for the vouchers. The vouchers will be sent out digitally and can be redeemed in most larger cities in Austria and Germany. The number of available vouchers is limited, they will be given out on a first-come-first-served basis.

LIGHTNING TALK: ADVENT OF CODE - Rainer Stropek
Each year, thousands of developers are practicing their coding skills in the Advent of Code event. Each day in December, you get a coding puzzle in which you have to help Santa Claus in order to save Christmas. AoC is a great opportunity for those of you who are looking for ways to practice Rust in a fun and entertaining way. Rainer will introduce you to AoC and use some exemplary AoC puzzle to illustrate what you can learn in terms of Rust development.
---
Second talk, approx. 18:00 (6:00pm CET)
WEBASSEMBLY BEYOND THE BROWSER - Thorsten Hans
Let's conquer the cloud with WASM in AKS
WebAssembly is the next big thing on the server and in the cloud. By leveraging tools like Krustlet (https://krustlet.dev/), we can get rid of containers in Kubernetes! What does that mean? What can you achieve today, and what is still experimental? And how can you get hands-on right now? Join this talk by Azure MVP and cloud-native enthusiast Thorsten Hans to get those questions answered. It's time to embrace the platform of the future.
---
Third talk, approx. 19:00 (7:00pm CET)
SERDE SHENANIGANS - Armin Ronacher
Armin is going to tell us about his experiences with Serde, the popular Serialization/Deserialization crate. Serde is format-independent and lets you work with JSON, YAML, and a range of different formats. Despite all of this, there is a lot that can be accomplished with it and some of the use cases are quite interesting and worth sharing.
