Rust Meetup Linz - 25th Edition

Details
Rust Meetup Linz, No. 25!
Hello dear Rustaceans! The next meetup is coming up, and it is a very special one. In celebration of the ARS ELECTRONICA FESTIVAL (https://ars.electronica.art/planetb/en/), the meetup will be hybrid. You can come to Linz and join us IN PERSON or you can view the meetup online. We have two great guest speakers with us in Linz.
The meetup will be at the GRAND GARAGE LINZ (https://grandgarage.eu/). If the weather is fine, we will use the Grand Garage Sundeck and have an outdoor meetup. In case of bad weather, we have a nice room inside. Drinks and snacks will be provided. If you want to join in person, please register here: https://ti.to/rust-linz/25th-edition -- it will help us plan catering
If you cannot join us in person, you can attend live via streaming at https://youtu.be/_08se-gnzh8
LISA PASSING will be our first speaker of the evening. Lisa is a Berlin-based creative technologist, artist, and researcher. Her main obsessions are playful interactions with computers and creative uses of civic tech and data. Lisa will talk about Rust on Raspberry Pi.
TIM MCNAMARA will be our second speaker. Tim is an experienced programmer with a deep interest in natural language processing, text mining, and wider forms of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Tim is also the author of "Rust in Action", published by Manning. He is very active in open source communities including the New Zealand Open Source Society.

📣 Rustberry Pi - Baby steps in embedded Rust (by Lisa Passing)
18:15 (6:15pm CEST)
One of Rust's biggest draws is the promise of easily writing and compiling code for embedded devices. But where do you start with embedded development when you have zero clue and just want to dip your toes in some physical computing? This is just the talk for you! We'll use a Raspberry Pi and will write some Rust to interact with the real world.
***
📣 Boxes, Heaps and Stacks (by Tim McNamara)
Approx. 19:00 (7:00pm CEST)
When I learned Rust, I was a Python programmer. This meant that I had no idea what a pointer was. Luckily, the Rust compiler is a good coach.
