Rust Embedded with MicroBit:V2

Details

Have you ever dreamed of growing a full grey beard and becoming a computer wizard? Then I welcome you to the exciting world of embedded programming.

We will base our work on top of the work done by the Rust (embedded working group)[https://github.com/rust-embedded] and expand upon the existing concepts. In this event, we will provide you with a MicroBit:V2, which has an nRF52833 chip based on the Cortex-M4F CPU architecture on board.

This chip was developed by Nordic Semiconductor ASA in Trondheim and used by the BBC to create the "next generation" BBC micro for kids to grow up and learn programming and how a computer works.

We intend to introduce you to embedded programming using the Rust programming language at this event. Still, you will also learn a little about compilers, linkers, computer architectures and low-level programming.

This will be a workshop-based introduction course where we will have a presentation with some course material to get you started. Then, you'll be able to continue to work on your own in groups on the exercises provided with a workbook which will contain more information, examples and exercises. If you have done a lot of embedded programming before, this may not be as interesting as an introductory course; however, you will learn some of the advantages of using Rust in an embedded context.

The workshop is led by Sigvart Hovland from Nordic Semiconductor ASA
