Motorized blinds, and replacing Docker, in Rust!
Details
Rust Trondheim is a Meetup where enthusiasts and developers come together to explore fun and creative projects built with Rust. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, this Meetup is for everyone!
For this evening we’ll have we'll have two presenters showing off two very cool (and very different) projects!
- Eirik Blekesaune - An art project with Rust!
Eirik will talk about a project he helped an artist build, which is currently on display at K-U-K. It’s a system that controls a pair of motorized blinds, and the talk will cover how he used Tokio and Axum to make it all work. - Johannes Røsvik - Putting The 'Self' in Self-Hosting with Rust
'Don't roll your own crypto' they said. Unfortunately, no one told me I shouldn't build my own infrastructure. So I did just that. We'll walk through two tools I've made in Rust: A Docker-compatible container registry, and a lightweight Docker Compose alternative for your VPS. Together these form a simple, home made, but surprisingly usable CD pipeline. Not because making such a thing yourself is a smart approach, but because I'm unwilling to let go of the 'self' in self-hosting.
Important! This time we're at Habitat! Not the usual location in at Variant.
