Both Rust and Dart are modern programming languages that have learnt from the lessons of older ones—whether it's about null safety, type systems, cross-platform compilation, or otherwise.

In his talk, Max will compare and contrast Rust and Dart, shedding light on their different design philosophies while elaborating on the historical context in which they were developed in. You will even find that despite their apparent differences, Rust and Dart have a surprising amount in common.

Flutter is great for building beautiful UIs, and Rust is unbeatable when it comes to performance and safety—but what happens when you bring them together? In this talk, we’ll explore two powerful ways to bridge the gap between Dart and Rust.

First, we’ll look at flutter_rust_bridge, a high-level, ergonomic way to call Rust code from Flutter apps with minimal boilerplate. Then, we’ll dive deeper and go low-level with the Flutter Embedder API, showing how you can build your own shell around Flutter entirely in Rust—giving you full control over the runtime and embedding environment.

Whether you're a Flutter dev curious about native performance, or a Rustacean who wants to ship expressive cross-platform UIs, this session is all about the unique things you can do when Dash and Ferris join forces.
