Come and join us for a weekend of camping, sand boarding, hot springs, and hiking. Please note that this is spring time camping which means evening tempartures can become extremely cold and you may experience high winds.

We will be in RV space #9

RV spaces:
Electric & Water $35 per night
Dry RV Camping $25 per night

Tent spaces:
Gravel $25 per night
Remote $20 per night

Cabins:
$100 to $115 per night
Sleeeps 2, foot pump sink, heater, electric, sittinig area, small deck, firepit. NO BATHROOM INSIDE ROOM

The pool is closed on Thursdays for cleaning.
The campground is remote, but they do offer many amenities to make your camping experience comfortable and fabulous. Onsite they have 10 + hot springs pools ranging in temperatures between 98 to 111 degrees and range in size from 8X8 to Olympic size pools. There are 2 food stands, one offers burgers and fries while the other has delicious chef inspired small plates.
The Green House (21 and Older) is one of a kind tropical escape with 10,000 square feet of beautiful plants, hot spring pools, indoor and outdoor patio space, dry sauna, and bar.
In addition to their pools, they offer rentals of relaxing tubes, sandboards, sand sled rentals (for the sand dunes), and many other pool related items.
They allow pets and are kid friendly.

EVENTS:

Thursday
6:00 – Arrive and set up camp
7:00 – Campfire

Friday
11:00 – Relax in hot springs
12:00 – Eat lunch at hot springs pool and continue to enjoy pool
7:00 – Campfire. Please bring your own beverages. RV Site # 9
Pool is open until 10:00 PM if you would rather soak in the springs

Saturday
11:00 – Travel to Sand Dunes (Recommend that you pack a lunch)
11:30 – Meet at the Sand Dunes (divide into groups based on interests (hiking, sand boarding, relaxing).
3:00 – Gather and drive to Zapata Falls
3:30 – Meet at trailhead and hike the falls (1 hour round trip). The hike is moderate but short (less than 1 mile) to the mouth of the falls. The hike does require wading through Zapata creek to gain the best views of the falls. I recommend that your wear shoes that can get wet and walk on slippery rocks in freezing water temperatures.
6:00 – Meet at hot springs. Eat dinner at the hot springs and have drinks.

Sunday
Possibly visit Colorado Gators if anyone has interest.
The Colorado Gator Farm is one of Alamosa’s most unique attractions, and highly underrated. When visiting Alamosa and the Great Sand Dunes National Park, be sure to save some time for this oasis in the desert.

Utilizing the geothermal waters of the valley, the owners decided to start a Tilapia farm in 1977. They found themselves with fishy problem: a surplus of dead fish. Instead of throwing away the dead fish, in 1987 they bought 100 baby alligators to take care of the fish remains naturally. These baby alligators grew fast in the warm, geothermal waters and locals started asking if they could see them. The Gator Farm opened to the public in 1990, showcasing their tilapia ponds and enormous alligators.
As time progressed, the farm took on another role as an Exotic Animal Refuge. They have received dozens of unwanted, illegal, and abused reptiles from all over the world. ; Now the refuge holds not only alligators, but tortoises, iguanas, poisonous snakes, and giant snapping turtles. Through fundraising and educational awareness, they have been able to add to their sanctuary by including various bird species and a tropical biodome.
