About us

Below is the presentation abstract for this meetup, but I have an important announcement to make first.

We are moving away from Meetup for our events! We are transitioning to Luma.com for our future events. Go here to become part of the RVA AI Engineers Luma community!
https://luma.com/RVA_AI_Engineers

Richmond’s community for people building with AI, not just talking about it.

RVA AI Engineers brings together Central Virginia’s engineers, founders, researchers, and technical leaders who are putting AI into production. You might be shipping your first LLM feature, designing agent systems at scale, or deciding whether your company should build or buy. Either way, you’ll find people here working through the same problems.

What we do

Technical talks and live demos of real systems: what worked, what broke, and what it cost
Deep dives on LLMs, agents, RAG, evals, inference optimization, and AI APIs
Discussions on model strategy, build vs. buy, FMOps, and leading AI transformation inside large organizations
Time to connect with people across startups, enterprises, and universities in the region

Who you’ll meet

AI engineers and developers: from individual contributors shipping AI features to principal engineers architecting AI platforms
Founders and technical leaders: CTOs, VPs of AI, and Heads of Engineering at companies from seed-stage to Fortune 500
Researchers and scientists: applied ML researchers and research engineers bridging the gap between research and production
Enterprise AI architects: senior leaders navigating org design, model strategy, evals, and scaling AI across the business

Our mission
We’re building a stronger AI engineering community in Central Virginia by sharing what’s working at the frontier, showcasing great work being done right here, and helping each other ship AI that delivers real value.

You don’t need a fancy title or a PhD to join. If you’re building with AI, or want to be, come learn, share, and meet your peers.

    # From Prompts to Pipelines: Building the Modern Software Factory by Jason Maggard, Senior Systems Creator with Atlantis Technology

    PRESENTATION ABSTRACT
We will explore the software factory - an end to end automated pipeline where AI Agents handle scoping, testing and development. We will dive DEEP into the scaffolding, skills, safety rails and evaluation loops necessary to turn raw prompts into reliable and scalable production pipelines.

If you are familiar with the 8 levels of Agentic Engineering article - this presentation lives between levels 5 & 6.

While this presentation is targeted at mid level engineers and higher, we encourage juniors who understand an agent file to attend as well.

For developers with a lesser experience level, we want to make it clear that you may be drinking from a firehose with the amount of information coming at you. And we guarantee that no matter what level you are (mid, senior, lead, staff, architect, director, CTO) that you will walk away learning AT LEAST one new nugget of information.

Our sponsor for this event is En Dash Consulting. En Dash puts senior level practitioners alongside your organization to removed delivery friction & improve how work gets done - and build apps & products for the companies we work with. We are glad to sponsor RVA AI Engineers! Learn more at En Dash Consulting.

En Dash Consulting will be providing dinner from Chicken Fiesta (Peruvian chicken and Yucca), so come hungry!
