RVA Casual Kayakers

This group is for casual paddlers seeking new places to enjoy the scenic and local rivers of Central Virginia. Its not for seasoned veterans, racers, or long-distance boaters.

You must have your own boats, PFDs, gear, and the ability to transport them. I will send out an email before each event in the case of rainchecks, and to suggest a post-paddle lunch meetup location.

We explore a few Lakes and at least 5 rivers not more than a hour's drive from Central Virginia:

• The Pamunkey
• The Mattaponi
• The James
• The Rappahannock
• The Piankatank

The Season starts in May and goes through October, meeting every two weeks. We meet at designated put-ins at 10AM Saturday Mornings and paddle for about 2 hours.

Sunscreen, PFDs, Sunglasses and Water are are must.
Hats, Snacks, and Cameras highly recommended.
New Experiences and New friends included.

Group Etiquette:
This group does not accommodate "plus-ones", where additional people take a place a member would in events.
If you have an extra person, have them sign up as a regular Meetup member
so planning goes smoothly, as most events have limited seats or parking.

Also, if you are a Meetup+ member and you are on a waitlist, you are automatically added to events when someone declines or leaves.
