What we’re about
This group is for casual paddlers seeking new places to enjoy the scenic and local rivers of Central Virginia. Its not for seasoned veterans, racers, or long-distance boaters.
You must have your own boats, PFDs, gear, and the ability to transport them. I will send out an email before each event in the case of rainchecks, and to suggest a post-paddle lunch meetup location.
We will explore 5 rivers not more than a hour's drive from Central Virginia:
The Pamunkey
The Mattaponi
The James
The Rappahannock
The Piankatank
Our Season starts in May and goes through September, meeting every two weeks. We meet at designated put-ins at 10AM Saturday Mornings and paddle for 1-2 hours.
Sunscreen, PFDs, Sunglasses and Water are are must.
Hats, Snacks, and Cameras highly recommended.

This is Event #7 for the 2025 Season, where we check our gear, put in and paddle.
We will meet at the (Free, No Access Fee Required) DGIF/DWR Deep Point Public Boat Landing off of Hwy 198. There is a descent amount of parking here. The river is a tributary of the Chesapeake, but we will be way upstream, tooling around the neighborhoods where I want to retire :) .
