God’s Divine Design of the Earth

The history of the Earth includes both astronomy and geology. Various books have been written by naturalists and Christians describing the evidence for this fine-tuning — Rare Earth, How to Build a Habitable Planet, The Privileged Planet, Improbable Planet, and Designed to the Core. This last one covers a comprehensive summary of how the universe of galaxies is so unique for advanced life to be possible. Ken will share some highlights from astronomy, and then focus on the geology and geochemistry of the Earth about four topics: 1. Earth’s Magnetic Field; 2. Plate Tectonics; 3. Water; and 4. Earth’s Atmosphere. This is God’s creation story of the exquisite fine-tuning of the Earth’s core, mantle, crust, water cycle, and composition of the atmosphere that are so unique for advanced life to exist, and for us to be here as God’s image bearers.
