The Richmond Power BI User Group will be holding another all-day Dashboard in a Day workshop, a hands-on learning experience building a sample dashboard in Power BI. The workshop will be held on Thursday February 20th from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM at the Microsoft office.

The workshop will help you understand how to import, transform, explore, and visualize data. Whether you are evaluating Power BI for your company or are looking to learn how Power BI can help you be more efficient at your day-to-day work, this workshop will get you started.

Lunch will be provided by our friends from the Northern Virginia SQL Server Users Group who will be co-hosting the workshop.

Topics Include:

  • Importing and loading data from CSV and Excel workbooks
  • Transforming data (renaming tables and columns, changing data types, and adding new data)
  • Data exploration and visualization (layouts, modeling, report authoring, dashboards authoring, report uploading, refreshing dashboard data and sharing)

Who Should Attend:
This workshop is for beginner and intermediate business analysts, managers, power users, or data scientists new to Power BI.

Prerequisites:
Basic knowledge of data warehousing or modeling concepts is a plus, but the workshop is designed for all levels of users.

Some software installation and configuration is required. Keep a lookout for additional preparation steps prior to attending the workshop.
