Sierra Club California is the legislative and advocacy branch of the Sierra Club in our state. It is our voice for the environment in the state capitol. California is a leader on most things especially environmental protections. As Sierra Club, it is our mission to assure we continue working on securing a future full of clean water, air, and land. This program will outline some of the environmental issues that Sierra Club is tackling.

Miguel Miguel joined Sierra Club California as Director in April 2025. He leads the organization’s operations, political strategy and advocacy work across the state. Prior to Sierra Club, Miguel served as the Policy Director for Pacoima Beautiful focused on fighting for environmental policies. Miguel is born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and has worked in the environmental world for nearly a decade. He first started his career as a geologist working alongside tribal nations and archeologists preserving cultural resources. Miguel later worked for the City of Los Angeles and the University of California Los Angeles while pursuing his masters in Urban and Regional Planning.
