What we’re about
Welcome to the Southern Oregon Camino Pilgrims! As a local Chapter of the American Pilgrims on the Camino we are a community of people who have either walked one or more of the Camino de Santiago routes leading to Santiago de Compostela in Spain or are interested in doing so. Our goal is to support and encourage those who are interested in walking the Camino. We hold informational meetings to help you prepare for the journey, lead training hikes and walks throughout the year, and organize social events where you can meet aspiring and veteran pilgrims. If you have already walked a Camino, we invite you to join our community and share your insights and experiences with aspiring pilgrims.

See all- Bear Creek Greenway Training WalkCoyote Trails Nature Center, Medford, OR
Join us if you are training for the Camino, or just like a long walk with good company!
We will meet at the small park in front of the Coyote Trails Nature Center near the Baseball fields off of South Pacific Highway in Medford
Our training walks are meant to give you a feel for the average daily distance on the Camino — with a few options built in, just like the real thing!
We’ll start by heading south about 2.7 miles to Clyde’s Corner, where we’ll stop for lunch.
From there, you can decide how far you’d like to go:- Option 1: Walk back to our starting point for a total of 5.4 miles.
- Option 2: Continue south to Lynn Newbry Park in Talent (just under 3 miles past Clyde’s). Turning around here makes for an 11.2-mile round trip.
- Option 3: For the hardy walkers, keep going to the “Wrangler’s Arena” area just before Ashland. That’s a 15-mile round trip, with the option to pause at Clyde’s again on the way back for a little sustenance.
Or you can choose to start walking with us from Clyde's Corner at 4495 S. Pacific Hwy in Phoenix. We should be arriving there around 11:00 am. If you walk from Clyde's to Wrangler's Arena and back the round trip distance will be 9.4 miles. Or walking from Clyde's to Lynn Newbry Park will be just under 6 miles round trip.
Due to insurance concerns only humans are permitted at chapter events, including hikes and walks - Walk, Eat, Sleep, Repeat - Life on the Camino de SantiagoREI, Medford, OR
Ever wondered what a typical day looks like on the Camino de Santiago? This session will walk you through the daily rhythm of a pilgrim: where to stay, what (and when!) to eat, and how to handle laundry on the road. We’ll explore the different types of accommodations—especially albergues (pilgrim hostels)—and share tips on navigating Spanish mealtimes, costs, reservations versus “winging it,” and the unwritten rules of albergue etiquette.
If you’ve been curious about finding the best places to stay, managing your budget, or simply what life on the Camino really feels like, this session is for you. Please register on the REI site by clicking here
- Tertulia - A Casual GatheringDunbar Farms, Medford, OR
A tertulia is a Spanish tradition—an informal gathering to share conversation and connection. We’d love for you to join us for an afternoon with fellow pilgrims, both past and future, to swap stories, ask questions, and enjoy good company.
Dunbar Farms offers wine and other beverages, along with a limited food menu for anyone who’d like a late lunch. Come to reminisce, to learn, or simply to enjoy a relaxed afternoon together in a beautiful setting.
