The SAC community wholeheartedly believes in the notion of “One Spirit, Many Paths.” In other words, we all manifest and express love, light and divine action into the world in our own ways, based on our authentic journeys of faith and experience. Unfortunately, all too many of us in the contemporary world have experienced a lack of understanding, rejection and even trauma through our interactions with traditional religious institutions and practices: Our authentic expressions of Spirit were marginalized because of our mix of identities that helped to shape them and because of this, we may feel spiritually untethered and alone.

To help with all of this, SAC New Thought Center is introducing the Lavender Circle of Belonging: That is, an affinity group or all LGBTQ+ folks providing authentic connection and opportunities for spiritual discovery through a variety of informal, analog gatherings and activities. Members will work with rev. paul savoie, our staff minister for community care and belonging, to develop and engage in social experiences that will help to create a sense of joy, peace and spiritual fulfillment…and who wouldn’t want to feel more of all of this in these times of uncertainty?!]

BTW, SAC is not a traditional Christian congregation by any stretch of the imagination! Instead, we wholeheartedly embrace the highly-inclusive New Thought tradition. The New Thought movement was largely founded, sustained, and spread by women, mystics, and social outcasts in the late 19th century—people who were themselves marginalized by the patriarchal religious establishment of the time. Because the movement’s historical roots belong to those fighting for bodily autonomy, female suffrage, and spiritual independence, it laid the cultural groundwork for welcoming sexual and gender minorities.
