When we invest in women and support one another, we help create a world that works for all, not just a few.
In 2017, only 2% (even less for women of color) of venture capital funds (over 80 billion dollars) was invested in female-founded tech startups - and it's not because it's a pipeline issue.
According to research (2016) by the McKinsey Global Institute, women could add as much as $28 trillion or 26% to the annual global GDP in 2015 - if they were to participate in the economy identically to men.
The Sacramento Female Founders Meetup group invites anyone who identifies as female to join us in supporting one another as we create, build, innovate, and scale our tech startup companies. Whether you are a founder or co-founder or working in a tech startup, we'd love to hear your story. Even if you are an aspiring female founder, please join us - your ideas matter and need a sounding board!
Men are welcome to join our Meetup Group and attend our Meetups by providing a supporting role. It takes a village to change the narrative and we need our guys who understand the power of diversity, equity, and inclusion to be part of the solution. Did you know that diverse teams outperform homogenous teams by 30%?
Our time is now. We are the ones we have been waiting for. It's time for women to be transparent and share our stories of trials, challenges, and success. We need each other. No more working in silos, alone, isolated. Let's honor each other's entrepreneurial journey by providing a safe, supportive and collaborative environment.
Building a tech startup company is extremely difficult. It's even more so for women due to lack of easy access to financial and social capital. So, let's be here for one another. Let's lift one another up because when one woman rises, we all rise!
Each Meetup will host a guest speaker with subject matter expertise or a female founder story that will inspire us to embrace our power and lead with courage.
Join Us! Come for the speakers, stay for the support and camaraderie.
