*Limited* Online Access to Intrinsic Value and Intimacy

Details
LIMITED ONLINE SIGN UP ONLY: In this Meetup, we will be asking some questions, like "What do you value?", "What do you value as a means to an end?" and "What do you love for its own sake?" Note, it is primarily value - not values - we are discussing. This value is related to our life force, or eros. Plato held an idealistic concept of eros where eros is a primordial impulse that moves all things towards perfection and unity. Intrinsic value, like eros, pre-exists us, our judgments and beliefs as it is woven into reality itself.
Intrinsic value contrasts with value that is extrinsic or instrumental. The postmodern view is that all value is constructed by humans and, in this view, all value is therefore extrinsic and instrumental. Many others claim that there is something called intrinsic value that pre-exists human beings. An argument can be made that life emerges in response to this intrinsic, pre-existing value. Further, the allurement to/by this intrinsic value is what leads us toward intimacy with the world and with one another.
Below you will find links to podcasts and some YouTube videos that explore these themes. You can also read the book First Principles and First Values which explores the implications of this intrinsic value and the intimacy that accompanies it.
