AI seems to be everywhere these days, if your application doesn’t have AI in it can it really be an app? There is lots of hype, lots of tools but what is possible out there and what do you need to run in the cloud or what can you run on your own?

With more and more open source models the possibility of running your own AI models on your own hardware under your control is possible. In this talk/lab Luke Kilpatrick will show you how to set up your own AI Image generation system and your own AI LLM chat bot on your own local system if your hardware supports it. If you don’t have the way to do it locally he will also show you how to set it up in the cloud for minimal cost.

Why would you want to run your own? Perhaps you want to train a model on data you don’t want exposed outside your own system. The publicly available models also have a lot of censorship on them so with the wrong prompt you would be flagged. With running everything local you have control of what you ask and the answers will be based on the data you provide the model.
