Let's Do A Nature and History Walk at Fair Oaks Bridge

Details

## Details

Join us for a leisurely morning walk along the American River Trail. Local naturalist and historian Janice Kelly will highlight points of interest, including Fair Oaks Bluff—a stunning scenic spot and a critical preservation story known as the "Crown Jewel of the American River." The impressive Fair Oaks Bridge is an excellent location for observing waterfowl. At the boat launch ramp next to the parking area, we will discuss the cliff face and hanging trees while exploring the geology of Fair Oaks Bluff. Janice will also share insights about local wildlife.

We are excited to co-host this event with Sierra Club Military Outdoors, and we especially welcome veterans. This outing is open to everyone, including new or prospective club members, and it offers a chance to learn about the Sierra Club's activities and conservation efforts.

Please bring water and a snack. After the walk, you can join us for an optional lunch at a nearby picnic bench. The walk is approximately 3 miles long, with an optional climb up the bluff.

Each participant must sign the Sierra Club Sign-In & Waiver Form at the trailhead. There is a $7 parking fee. Shawn Britton is the event leader; you can reach him at 408.242.5092 or via email at smbritton@comcast.net.
