Day Hike (1B) Hidden Falls Regional Park (Placer Group)

Join the Sierra Club Placer Group on Sunday, November 16, 2025, for a moderately challenging hike at Hidden Falls Regional Park near Auburn, CA. We'll be hiking the 4.3-mile Seven Pools Loop. After the hike, we will have an optional lunch stop in Auburn.

The pace of the hike will be moderate and the dirt trail is rocky in places, with a few ups and downs throughout. There is a steep switchback decline into the valley, with the same incline back to the parking lot. Wildlife sightings are possible, including turkeys, quail, and deer. There is plenty of shade along the trail, and some benches along the way. Rest breaks will be taken as needed. Restrooms are available in the parking lot.

We estimate the hike will take 2 to 2.5 hours at a moderate pace. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are permitted, noting that this multi-use trail is shared with horses (who always have the right-of-way), hikers, and cyclists. Cell service is limited or may not be available in some parts. More than a light rain or inclement weather cancels.

Hike stats: Approximately 4.3 miles with a total elevation gain of 570 feet, and a base elevation at around 830 ft. Please only sign up if you’re committed to attending.

Bring: Comfortable hiking shoes and the essentials, including water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, and layers for changeable temperatures. Please bring cash if you wish to join a carpool. (Note: Recommended carpool reimbursement rate is up to $7.00 per hour per carpool participant, or whatever you and your driver agree to.) Note that this hike will require a parking fee, so please plan to help reimburse your driver in addition to the carpool amount.

Carpooling Meet at 7:45 AM at Taylor Road Park-n-Ride (adjacent to Golfland Sunsplash). Vehicles will depart by 8:00 a.m.

Trailhead: For those meeting at the trailhead, meet at approximately 8:45 a.m. in the parking lot located at 7587 Mears Place, Auburn, CA.
