Why is America so fixated on trivia and so bloody gullible? In a world with crisis after crisis begging for solutions - climate change, gun violence, eroding rights, zealous dictators abroad, the aftermath of a pandemic and vitriolic groups threatening civil war - why do so many people concentrate on nonsense and minutia?
