Amanita muscaria: a mushroom that is both 'magic' and legal

Details
Aloha kākou,
In recent months and years, we have seen a renewed interest in the therapeutic potential of 'magic mushrooms,' primarily the Psilocybe species. And fortunately, legal restrictions on access and possession are being eased, allowing universities to move forward with some very promising research.
Recreational and spiritual uses are also expanding. Certain local jurisdictions have decriminalized the possession of Psilosybe mushrooms in five states (CA, WA, CO, MI, and MA). A sixth state (Oregon) has decriminalized all psychedelics, and legalized their medical use.
But it is important to note that mushrooms containing psilocybin--a prodrug which, when metabolized, is converted into psilocin) are not the only ones with mind-altering effects. The primary active ingredient in Amanita muscaria, the bright red 'shroom with white spots, is muscimol, and the effects that it produces are quite different from those of the psilocybe clan.
A. muscaria is currently legal to possess, transport or consume in the United States (with the exception of Louisiana). A yellow or orange variery of A. muscaria grows in conifer forests on Kaua'i, and A. muscaria gummies can now be purchased online. Join us for a thorough discussion of this vividly colored mushroom, its psychotropic effects, therapeutic potential, and the possible risks of consuming it raw. We will also share some of the legends and lore associatwd with the so-called 'fly agaric.'
You are encouraged to sign up now; a reminder will be sent to you prior to the event.
