MLK Day of Service 2026 - Restore an Urban Forest
Details
Description
Protect Atlanta's vital tree canopy & wildlife corridor in Midtown near Emory in Morningside. Herbert Taylor Park is making a comeback--be a part of it.
Purpose
Protect an endangered habitat and lessen the impact of climate change in our city. Clear ivy from ancient trees, see wildlife and a relatively undisturbed forest right in the midst of Midtown. We have the experts and tools--all we need is you!
Role
Learn restoration from GA Native Plant Society experts in this urban forest along South Fork Peachtree Creek. After a short introduction & instructions we set off to clear trails of invasive species so that the wild flora and fauna can thrive.

Casual, fun, learning opportunity
Pro Tips
On street parking is available but note there are no facilities on site--there is a shopping center nearby, however. Text or email friendsofhtdj@gmail.com with questions or concerns.
