What we’re about
🌹 Welcome!
The hope for this group is to help bridge the gap between social isolation and social connection specifically for people who experience social anxiety, by offering small, safe, social gatherings with people who understand what it's like and "just get it"!
🥰 We are social beings
..and are all in need of social contact, company and support sometimes, even if we can feel shy, quiet, introverted, or might find social spaces hard to feel comfortable in or overwhelming. My hope is that together, we can create supportive, introvert-friendly spaces where we can gently build connections, and find fun and friendship along the way.
☕️ Our activities include
Coffee, hot chocolate, movies, meals, book clubs, karaoke, exhibitions, talks, theatre, and more. Activities are in small groups, relaxed, and chosen to encourage gentle connection without pressure or expectation.
🎶 A note on social anxiety
Social anxiety can mean different things to different people, and many may identify with it or define it in various ways. However, this group is specifically for those who experience persistent social anxiety AND shyness that deeply affects their comfort and ability to feel at ease in typical social settings and is a part of their everyday lives.
⚠️ Please carefully consider if this group is right for you before joining
If you are generally socially confident, outgoing, talkative, loud or tend to dominate and lead conversations (even if occasionally shy) this group is not the right fit for you. We ask that members respect the specific purpose of this group, rather than approach it as a general activity or networking space.
💭 Accessibility
Most other environments are naturally accessible to socially confident people by default - but that’s often not the case for shy individuals, who have far fewer options due to anxiety. Maintaining this boundary helps protect the understanding atmosphere that genuinely shy members rely on and may not easily find elsewhere.
⏰ Time & commitments
We understand that things come up, so if you can’t make it, please do your best to update your RSVP with plenty of notice. This helps me plan the day and gives others a chance to join. Running a little late (about 10 minutes) is totally okay but please try not to be too late out of respect for everyone’s time and schedules.
🌿 A personal note from me, Dani
I started this group as someone, like you, with my own experiences and challenges around social anxiety. My intention was to create the kind of spaces I wished existed, and to help ensure that others facing similar struggles don't miss out on the chance for connection and friendship.
I do my best but I may not always be around at all times due to the usual life stuff, please be patient and understanding. I host this group alongside other commitments in my free time.
🎉 And finally...
Thank you for reading, we look forward to meeting and welcoming you to the group and hopefully having some good times together :)
