Writing can be joyful, bold, and brilliant—and young writers deserve the space to explore it seriously. Becoming Writers is a weekly creative writing programme designed for children aged 9–13 who love stories, language, and imagination. The course develops essential writing skills while nurturing voice, confidence, and creative identity.
Each session blends close reading, imaginative play, and structured practice to elevate not only how children write, but how they think, express, and explain themselves. Led by a qualified teacher with experience in the UK, Germany, and the UAE, this is a structured academic enrichment programme that channels creative energy into public-facing, publication-ready writing.
This week’s session focuses on wordplay and wild ideas—how to experiment with language, invent strange worlds, and surprise both yourself and your readers. Children will play with poetic devices, riddles, invented words, and surreal story starters, exploring how linguistic play sparks imaginative power.
This session includes:
– Reading and discussion of fun, inventive texts from children’s literature
– Word games, storytelling prompts, and collaborative writing activities
– Techniques to strengthen vocabulary, structure, and style
– Space to share work aloud and develop confidence in creative self-expression
Outcomes:
Young writers leave with enhanced confidence, sharper writing tools, and a growing portfolio of original creative work. Sessions are designed to support both school success and independent creative growth, with opportunities to contribute to the Sahab Collective Journal.
