Sunny Sailing Day trip Volendam - Marken - Markermeer return

Hello Sailors,

As the weather looks good for some sailing and sightseeing on Sunday we are excited to welcome you on board for a Fun Day Sail experience on the IJsselmeer. The trip will begin in Volendam Marina. Volendam is 20min drive away from Amsterdam and easily accessible by public transport.

No previous sailing experience is required but for your own safety a basic level of fitness and mobility is necessary. The boat is a 36 foot long Jeanneau Sun Odyssey which has a salon, kitchen, 2 cabins and a bathroom on board. There will be snacks and soft drinks available on board.

As Volendam is situated on the IJsselmeer we can directly open sails and set course to the old fishing village of Marken. You'll have some time to discover this traditional village and we can have some lunch there after.

After lunch we'll sail to the famous lighthouse "The Horse of Marken" onto the Markermeer for some big water sailing. In the late afternoon we'll sail back and upon arrival have a toast together (ankerbier).

The bus stop is 5 min walk away from the Marina or you can decide to enjoy the Volendamse Dijk with their traditional shops and foodstalls.

There are five places available for the trip, excluding crew. The daytrip will start in Marinapark Volendam at 11:00am. We will meet on the terrace of the Restaurant Paviljoen Smit-Bokkum facing the marina 2 min walking from the bus stop Marinapark or the long-term parking behind the (new) Marinapark.

There will be snacks and soft drinks available on board.

Life vests are available for safety. (maximum size is large) When we are sailing on the Markermeer and you want to go on the deck, out of the cockpit, you will be required to wear a life vest. Swimming skills are preferred and sailing experience is welcome. Due to the nature of this trip and for your own safety a basic level of fitness is required.

If you are new to sailing it is good to be aware that wind /weather conditions can change rapidly so we can experience some mild wind and easy sailing but also some stronger winds and waves and real sailing. Make sure to bring along several layers of clothing and preferably a wind and waterproof jacket and white sole shoes.

If the trip is cancelled because of weather conditions you will receive your full payment. In case you cancel your attendance for any reasons there is no refund.

Please be aware that there are certain risks that are unique to waterborne sports. Of course, with good planning and well trained captain then 99% of the time you’ll be enjoying one of the most exciting day trips you’ll ever experience. However, it’s good to be prepared with a suitable (sailing) travel insurance policy in the event of accidents and injuries incurred on board. Participating in this trip is at your own risk.
