Want to learn to sail? Interested in improving your skills? Just want to have a damn good time on the water? Lake Union Charters & Adventures is launching a new sailing activity! It’s called Sailing Battles.
What are Sailing Battles? Think dodgeball meets sailing, points are tallied by hits scored on other boats. See who can gain the most points on other boat(s) while avoiding incoming missiles. The faster you recover the missiles the more likely you are to score the most points. A full session lasts between 60-90 minutes and typically has 2-3 battles.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of sailing experience. We focus on bringing the world of sailing to beginners and experts alike - each boat has several roles, so there's something for everyone to do. We also have a spectator boat if you want to watch before you jump into a battle or just want to cheer your friends on.
- Skipper: Drives the boat and helps the team with navigation & strategy
- Trimmer: adjust the power (sails) of the boat and helps team tempo & speed
- Spotter: keeps track of boats, missiles, and score & helps the team with situational awareness
- Gunner: fires & retrieves the missiles & helps team with strategy
Join us at one of our Sailing Battle Events:
- Open Houses (at our waterfront meeting space) to talk about sailing, learn about the game and the battle league, and typically play some mini games
- Open Battles where we'll rotate through everyone so anyone that wants to battle will have a chance, spectators welcome
- League & Tournaments series of events with cumulative scoring. Earn prizes & bragging rights
All who attend an event get a free spectator ticket to be used at a future date.
