The Seventh Seal (1957)

Ingmar Bergman's classic film, often parodied in everything from Bill & Ted to the Muppets. A Swedish knight who has returned from the Crusades to find his country ravaged by the Black Plague attempts to save his life by challenging Death to a game of chess.

The Masque of the Red Death (1964)

Roger Corman's adaptation of the Edgar Allan Poe story of the same name, starring St. Louis' own Vincent Price. A European prince terrorizes the local peasantry while using his castle as a refuge against a plague that stalks the land.
