Distributed Design Showdown

Details
Ready to put your system design skills to the test with a twist? In this 90 minute design sprint, you and your team (2–3 people) will tackle a surprise system challenge revealed at kickoff. That’s right—no prep, no spoilers, just pure design adrenaline.
You’ll get a full requirements brief on the spot: what the system does, what it needs to accomplish, and what kinds of tech challenges (scalability? fault tolerance? consistency?) you’ll need to solve for. Then it’s game time.
Fire up your favorite diagramming tool (Lucidchart, Google Drawings, or whatever works) and get sketching. Map out your architecture, make the tough trade offs, and show us how you’d keep things flowing even when things go wrong.
To wrap things up, each team presents their masterpiece—highlighting your approach, your clever solutions, and maybe even a few “lessons learned.” Then we all vote for the most elegant and rock solid design.
Bring:
- A laptop for live collab diagramming
- Your best design instincts (or wildest ideas—we love those too)
- A sense of humor and a teammate or two (or come solo—we’ll match you up)
Oh—and yes, there will be pizza and drinks to keep your brain fuelled while you design.
Whether you're a distributed systems diehard or just curious how real world systems come together, you’ll leave with fresh insights, new friends, and bragging rights (if you win
