Details

John Fultz will given an overview of Quackle, an open source project he's worked on a number of years. Quackle is a crossword game artificial intelligence and analysis tool which rivals the world's best players of crossword games such as SCRABBLE® and is a frequently used by tournament-level players to analyze their games. It is written in C++, structured as an engine library, a serialization library, and a Qt-based GUI application. John will give an overview of the history of the project, interesting algorithms and data structures important for word games, lessons learned, and the benefits and drawbacks of being involved in an open source project with significant niche popularity.
