Cats 101

"Cats is a library which provides abstractions for functional programming". That mission statement is pretty vague, and many new Scala developers don't fully understand what Cats does for them. In this meeting we'll discuss what that actually means to you, and how to use some of the common tools available in Cats to make your code more flexible and reusable.

Examples will all be targeted at the novice Scala developer. I don't expect us to get to anything so advanced that the scalaz solution should differ much from the cats solution, so if you're interested in demystifying scalaz, this talk should be plenty relevant to you as well.
