NOTICE
Our block of 20 seats sold out in the first day we announced this Meetup. No additional discounted seats are available. Other seats for this concert remain available at full pricing. We have additional SLSO concerts scheduled that include discounted pricing for a block of seats together.

And let's return to Powell Hall with a whole new relationship with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. The SLSO is providing our Meetup group with group ticket pricing and the opportunity for our group to be seated together. The orchestra is also waiving ticket service charges.

The ticket price to sit with our group for this concert is only $29. There are only 20 seats available with this remarkable group pricing. Ticket purchasing instructions are at the conclusion of this write up.

Those interested can join for dinner before the performance at Gary's Dining diagonally across Grand Boulevard from Powell Hall. A reservation has been made for 5:45. Please reply to the question with your RSVP.

Stéphane Denève, conductor
Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, violin
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto
Sergei Rachmaninoff Symphony No. 2

As daylight wanes and the air turns brisk, reconnect with the warmth of the SLSO and two of the most exhilarating and romantic pieces in orchestral music. Danish violinist Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider showcases his exquisite virtuosity as he soars through Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. Then the orchestra demonstrates what Music Director Stéphane Denève describes as “love in sounds” in a performance of Rachmaninoff’s breathtakingly beautiful Second Symphony.

A few things to know about the music:

  • Tchaikovsky wrote his Violin Concerto in a remarkably short amount of time, working for one week on the first movement and completing the entire work in only one additional week.
  • After a less-than-successful First Symphony, Rachmaninoff battled internally with the idea of attempting another. When he took the leap, he still worked through months of revisions and paralyzing doubt. In the end, it was worth the struggle, as Rachmaninoff's Second Symphony has become one of his most celebrated compositions.
