A lot more ... and it's free*.

Join host David Ackerman and the full Town & Country Symphony Orchestra for a special evening presentation of holiday favorites as the highlight of this Festive Friday celebration at the St. Louis Art Museum. This concert will include Holst’s “In the Bleak Midwinter,” the "Troika" from Prokofiev’s Lieutenant Kijé, selections from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite, Alfred Reed's Russian Christmas Music, and a variety of other seasonal music.

*The concert will take place in the museum’s comfortable and acoustically friendly Farrell Auditorium. TICKETS ARE REQUIRED for the concert but are available free anytime that day at the Welcome Desk in Taylor Hall in the museum.

We will not have reserved seating for this concert. Seating is first-come, first-served. So it's best to gather as a group near the auditorium before the doors open at 6:30 so the group can enter and sit together as you wish.

Go early to get the best free parking across the street from the museum. (Or paid parking under the museum opens directly into the museum).

#1 Pick up your free concert tickets at the Welcome Desk as soon as you arrive.

Then, consider these early free activities...

4:30 pm in Alice and Fred Conway Gallery 217. Abby Yoder, curatorial assistant in the department of modern and contemporary art will discuss Édouard Vuillard’s painting, The Fireplace. Go early to look at the painting carefully before the presentation begins. These curator presentations are always special.

5 pm in Grigg Gallery The Bach Society of Saint Louis will be performing a surround sound choral experience in this beautiful gallery adjacent to the main Sculpture Hall.

6 pm Sculpture Hall and Snack Bar. Enjoy the remarkable massive pieces there in the main hall as part of the free Anselm Kiefer exhibition. Or grab a bite at the excellent snack bar on the lower level. There is also a cash bar in the Sculpture Hall.

These are great areas to find and mingle with other members of our Meetup before the concert.

NOTE: David Ackerman, our event host, is also President of the Town & Country Symphony. He will also be playing in the concert (double bass) and won't be able to participate in pre-concert gatherings.

Entrance to the St. Louis Art Museum (SLAM) is always free, every day. On all Fridays, year 'round, entrance to all ticketed special events and exhibitions is always free. All Festive Friday special events, all day long, are free with the exception of food and drink and garage parking.
