Artist Presentation Society -- Competition Recitals. Serious performances.
Details
Each year, we have seen the winners of the previous year's Artist Presentation Society's (APS) annual competition perform with our regional orchestras. They never fail to be amazing. (Many of us recently saw Ivan Jiang play a piano solo with the University City Symphony Orchestra at KPAC in Kirkwood).
This year, the APS has invited our Symphony Meetup to witness the actual competition recitals to determine those winners. These finalists will perform individually over the course of the morning and early afternoon on Saturday, March 7 at the Lee Theater in the Touhill performing Arts Center. These will be arias and concerto solists on a number of instruments.
Attendance is free. You may come and go as you please from the event. You can only enter and leave the actual performance hall between recitals. Most recitals would last about 20 minutes. There will be breaks between and probably a lunch break for the judges.
This is an unusual Meetup since we won't have a specific time to meet or time to leave. Although I am the "Organizer" of this event, I don't know when, or if, I will be there. But all of our members are invited to be there whenever you want. And you may use this Meetup event to comment on your plans and connect with others that may also want to attend.
This invitation comes from Cindy Vantine, President of the Artist Presentation Society. And personally from Brian Woods, Music Director of the World Chess Hall of Fame. He is a accomplished pianist and previous winner of this very award. He is serving as one of the judges for this year's competition.
You are free to bring guests to witness this important and serious competition. Parking is abundant and free in the adjacent campus lots.
