The Washington University Department of Music presents its Faculty Showcase, an evening celebrating our performance faculty. The program spans a wide range of repertoire, opening with Elizabeth Poston’s Trio for flute, clarinet, and harp, performed by Jennifer Gartley, Dana Hotle, and Megan Stout. Pianist Yeon-Kyung Kim performs Bruce Stark’s Sonata for Piano (2018) and also collaborates with tenor Nathan Ruggles on Wagner’s powerful aria “Ein Schwert verhieß mir der Vater” from Die Walküre. Clarinetist Dana Hotle will solo in Adolphus Hailstork’s Three Smiles for Tracey, while guitarist W. Mark Akin performs Mauro Giuliani’s Grand Overture, Op. 61. The evening continues with soprano Kelly Daniel-Decker and pianist Todd Decker in “Grossmächtige Prinzessin” from Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos and concludes with an improvisation by Vicente Atria, highlighting the breadth of musical styles and talents represented by WashU’s faculty.
