StL Philharmonic with Ward Stare and a Dazzling Program

Passion and Providence is the opening concert of this 166th Season of the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra.
Spectacular Music Program:
- Leonard Bernstein Overture to Candide
- Alexander Glazunov Violin Concerto in A minor
- Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 5 in e minor, Op. 64
WARD STARE, conductor, will conduct three concerts this season for the Saint Louis Philharmonic Orchestra (might he be a candidate to become the Music Director for the this Philharmonic Orchestra). He was the Music Director of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra from 2014 until 2021 and the Resident Conductor of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra from 2008 to 2012. Stare is an active guest conductor in the United States as well as internationally.
MATTHILDUR TRAUSTADÓTTIR, violin, 20, born in Rimini, Italy, is earning her bachelor's degree at Oberlin College, studying with Sibbi Bernhardsson. She was the Absolute Winner of the 2025 Fenix International Music Competition, Artist Presentation Society Competition Winner and Soloist of the Year at the MÍT Concerto Competition. She will perform the Glazunov violin Concerto with the full orchestra.
