sLUGs ~ StL Linux Users Group for Seniors, a SLUUG activity

Details

The Saint Louis, Missouri (MO), STL Linux Users Group for Seniors (sLUGs (http://slugs.sluug.org/)) meets on a Friday of each month from 1:00PM to 3:00PM to talk about Linux, various Linux Distributions (Distros), installation, use, and other Free Opens Source Software (FOSS). This is a daytime Linux Users Group (LUG) for those that can not do evening meetings.

If you aren't a senior citizen, you can come anyway. We won't hold that against you. Skill levels may range from complete novice newcomers to experienced long-time users.

There is no fee to be a member. Meetings are free and open to everyone.

We will mostly explore the traditional Graphical User Interface (GUI), as it is easy to use, often familiar, and friendly to use. We will NOT focus on the Command Line Interface (CLI) as it is seldom required and generally optional.

There are many good reasons for switching to Linux. Or, not. It all depends on individual needs. There are also some challenges that potential new users should consider. Mostly any problems are offset by the advantages.

We want to provide to senior newcomers what other local LUGs don't. We want to promote Linux use by seniors, attract existing senior Linux users, and exploit the knowlege of those existing senior Linux power users.
