## Things are getting weird in 2023! Techies's Social Media

Mastodon vs Discord vs OpenStack vs GitHubDiscuss vs Slack vs your local user group's email listserver...?

Where should techies "hang out with" their contemporaries? WHy are there SO MANY places to check out? Why utilize one rather than another? What is each one's strength?

And, in the larger world of social media, things are pregnant with change. Twitter, one of the 1st "social media" was faultering and now under Elon Musk's ownership has been radically changing....so much so it is effecting other media & apps that had presumed its services. New social media keep sprouting up, including Facebook/Instagram's new Threads. A huge "instant winner" gathering millions of users in record time...who are now discovering there may be consequences!

The Saint Louis MO, STL Linux Users Group (STLLUG) meets monthly to talk about Linux. This GNU/Linux Users Group usually holds its meetings on the third or fourth Thursday of every month. Meetings are free and open to everyone.

At 6:30 PM CST we start with introductions, announcements, current events of interest, and a general CALL FOR HELP segment. Then we will go into the presentation of our main topic, sometime around or after 7:00 PM CST.
