Handling Linux CVEs & Linus Torvalds' Keynote from Kubecon 2024 (Hong Kong)
Details
~7:10pm
MAIN talk: Handling Linux CVEs and Linus Torvalds' Keynote Kubecon 2024
Presenter: Steven Borrelli
Abstract: I'll discuss these 2 presentation from last month's conference:
1.Linux Kernel CVEs, What Has Caused So Many to Suddenly Show Up? - Greg Kroah-Hartman
'In February the Linux kernel community took charge of issuing CVEs for any found vulnerability in their codebase. By doing this, they took away the ability for any random company to assign CVEs in order to make their engineering processes run smoother, and instead have set up a structure for everyone to participate equally.
This talk will go into how the Linux CVE team works, how CVEs are assigned, and how you can properly handle the huge number of new CVEs happening in a simple and secure way.'
(SLUUG note:CVE =Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) numbers are given as names to threats that are used to 'hack', attack, steal, break, ... )
2.Keynote: Linus Torvalds, Creator of Linux & Git, in Conversation with Dirk Hohndel
'Also from this conference, I'll discuss, the Keynote Address by Linus Torvalds'

BASE: Gemini Live & V0 by Vercel
Presenter: Sean Twiehaus
Abstract: Sean will demonstrate two brand new AI tools.
Google Gemini Live. This innovative AI application allows users to have a verbal conversation with Google Gemini. With Gemini Live you verbally ask the AI a question. It verbally responds. Then, you can follow up with another verbal question. While the AI is responding, you can interrupt it to change topic or ask even more questions.
V0 by Vercel. This AI can generate AMAZING UI code. Sean will demonstrate creating a fairly complex User Interface using only English prompts. The V0 AI will take Sean's prompt and generate clean React code.
