Zombies are a popular trope in modern entertainment, but what if they represent much more than that? Maybe zombie stories are cautionary tales meant to show us what happens when we stop thinking critically, disconnect from reality, and fall into what seems like meaningless repetition: work, eat, scroll, sleep, repeat. Or perhaps the zombie narrative is a way of investigating moral gray areas without the burden of many of our engrained ethical predispositions. Let’s use zombies (and the apocalypse they inevitably bring about) as a lens to examine our struggles with meaning, morality, and the complexity of modern life.
